Focus onConvivio: 20 years against AIDS
Convivio
, the biggest Italian charity event to raise funds for ANLAIDS (national association for the fight against AIDS) Lombardy, is back. And Fiera Milano is again sustaining this worthwhile initiative which will be hosted at fieramilanocity from 11th to 15th June (Hall 1, Porta Teodorico 12 – open to the public and free entry from 10 am to 10 pm non-stop).
This year’s edition is the tenth and celebrates Convivio’s twenty years’ fighting against AIDS. Convivio started in 1992 as an idea of Gianni Versace, who immediately called in as promoters Giorgio Armani, Gianfranco Ferrè and Valentino, thus enlisting the support of many Italian and international stylists.
Convivio is of key importance to ANLAIDS Lombardy, bringing extra life and effectiveness to their numerous activities in the field of research, information and training, prevention and care, both in Italy and in developing countries. It is also a fair that attracts tens of thousands of people, hoping to buy exclusive products at 50% discount, thanks to the support of the largest fashion names, with funds then destined to ANLAIDS.
Two special areas must be mentioned: the VINTAGE ZONE entirely devoted to priceless garments belonging to celebrities or donated from stylists’ archives (among many, an outfit designed exclusively for pop diva Lady Gaga, a dress worn by Beyoncè at the NACCP Awards 2009, the bag Sandra Bullock took to an Oscar ceremony, Madonna’s outfit for the premiere of “Revolver” and that worn by Scarlett Johansson to the Brit Awards in 2004 in London).
Then, another section dedicated to art, entitled “FINE ART CHEAP ART”, a silent auction involving all the artists, collectors, art critics, foundations and galleries who support Convivio by donating a work of art. Included among works on display are some by Gabriele Basilico, Maurizio Cattelan, Joseph Beuys, Mimmo Paladino, Jannis Kounellis and Patrick Tuttofuoco. Preventing the HIV virus from spreading is important, so Convivio has once again organised the “Easy Test”: from 11th to 15th June 2010, inside the fair, there will be a surgery offering free, reserved tests to visitors.
