Exhibitions as an industrial tool for exports promotion

The first plenary session of the international forum devoted to the exhibition sector, Exhibition in the 2.0 era between internationalization and territorial development, and held by Fondazione Fiera Milano last March 26th at MICO – Milano Congressi, analyzed the “exhibition” factor as a tool for the international development of whole industrial and services sectors, and therefore as an effective tool of national industrial policy.

In addition with the traditional activities for exports promotions, the most farsighted governments have implemented plans for the international development of their exhibition sector. This topic was debated by Iris A. Hauswirth, Senior Programme Development Officer at ITC -International Trade Centre (WTO-ONU), Shin Dong Joon, Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of South Korea, Leopoldo Franza, Business and Internationalization Department of Ministry of Economic Development, as well as Paolo Magri, executive vice president and Ispi director, who chaired the debate.

Three case studies were analyzed: Italy, South Korea and Germany; differences and peculiarities of support policies implemented by the different countries have been pointed out.
