Road safety at Transpotec 2.0

The Multi-Faculty Department for Road Safety of the University of Parma will be one of the key players at Transpotec 2.0 , a trade fair dedicated to autotransport on at Fiera Milano (Rho) from 19th - 21st November: two halls and external exhibition floor space of 30,000 m2 for a showcase displaying what is new in the freight transport, logistics, ecological and safety sectors. The University of Parma had the idea of creating a structure able to support the Ministry of Transport, corporations, institutions, public and private companies and communities, by creating a leading edge road safety reseach centre, which can access funds allocated by the European Union, as already occurs in other European countries.


More that two hundred thousand accidents each year, thirty thousand injured and almost five thousand dead, a cost to society of 30 billion euro, equal to 2% of GDP. These are the figures that reflect the situation and the incidence of road accidents in Italy, according to a report by Lorella Montrasio, a lecturer at the University of Parma.


Transpotec 2.0 will be opened by the generals of road haulage, in the presence of top representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Confindustria and trade unions.


Nearby the exhibitions a rich mix of technical round tables, forums and conventions. Ministerial technicians and the Government will discuss matters with members of the trade unions and entrepreneurs, to review the legal reforms, to discuss problems and sector innovations. Regards logistics, the spotlight will be on distribution within urbanised areas, with the problems presented by pedestrian only areas and Ecopass, and on the logistics of road haulage in turistic areas. Also the first territorial Forum will discuss sustainable transport and the role of the Public Administration in terms of infrastructures able to relaunch market competition and create consensus.
