In Brief

The historic posters exhibition at Lem Uno

From April 17th through 22nd, on the occasion of Salone del Mobile, the 70 Fiera historic posters will be on display at Fiera  Milano (Rho), Spazio Eventi  Lem Uno Cultura. The posters cover the time span from 1920 – the year when the first trade fair took place at Bastioni di Porta Venezia – to 1990 – the year when the trade fair was definitively replaced by specialized exhibitions. The event, entitled “La fiera di Milano. Lavoro e societą nei manifesti storici. 1920-1990” (Fiera di Milano – Work and society in its historical posters 1920-1990), is organized by Fondazione Fiera Milano and proposed to the general public an overview about a 70 year-long design history, through the original posters kept in the nell’Archivio Storico della Fondazione.

Every year, designers, photographs, painters, “creative artists” in short, used to work hard to enclose in a poster the essence of the trade fair and the social, political and cultural milieu of the time. Among them, Dudreville signed the first drawing of 1920 poster, Manlio Parrini drew the 1936 poster, Ezio Bonini signed the 1963 poster. It is a heritage of outstanding value which allows to retrace the steps of a society born with the 19th century dreams and always looking towards the future.
